本学は、元文部大臣であり、カント哲学者であった天野貞祐博士 の教育理念を礎に獨協学園と姫路市との「公私協力」によって昭和 62年（1987年）に開学した大学です。本学では、高校教育の延長 線上にある大学として多彩な学生を受け入れ、アカデミズムを基礎 として新しい工夫をこらした教育課程と、世界感覚を持った優れた 教授陣とでキャンパスは明るく活気に満ちあふれています。本学は、 平成18年（2006年）に医療保健学部、平成19年（2007年）に薬学 部、平成28年（2016年）に看護学部及び人間社会学群を開設。文 理総合大学のメリットを最大限に活用して、大きな付加価値を生み だす人間、すなわち、学生個々の秘めた才能を発掘し、地域社会に 貢献できる、人間性豊かな人材を育成します。 地域社会に貢献できる、人間性豊かな人材を育成 Himeji Dokkyo University (HDU) was founded in 1987 by Dokkyo Gakuen in cooperation with the City of Himeji to fulfill the educational vision of Dr. Teiyu Amano, a Kantian philosopher and former Minister of Education. The unique blend of many kinds of students, innovative pedagogy, and outstanding professors with international awareness realizes his vision of a lively campus and educational atmosphere. Ever conscious of the evolving needs of local, regional and national society, HDU expanded to include a Faculty of Health Care Sciences in 2006, a Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2007, as well as a Faculty of Nursing and a College of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2016. By maximizing the use of our increasingly diverse educational environment, HDU guides students to discover their hidden talents, while also nurturing them as humane individuals who will become invaluable assets for Himeji City and its surrounding communities.
